Description I started playing guitar about 15 years ago. I’m mostly self-taught; and have been spending a lot of time learning other artist’s material. In that, I learn how others write music, and improve my ear and ability. I tend to lean towards artsy and weird than straightforward/metal or rock, which is the category I would come closest to. I've been in a few bands during the time I’ve been playing, the longest being about 5 years (all of them being a cooperative effort), and I've come to a point where I can make music (at least for the guitar) that I am excited about. Everybody pays dues in some way, I suppose.
There are many important ingredients to writing good songs. When I write songs, the most important aspect has always been the music. A second important thing about the music for me is dynamics and quality, or craft of the music. I would rather hear a short EP size album of well done music than a full 13 songs that were mediocre.
My main goal is to find others who feel the same way and are able to rehearse and produce some music for playing live shows. I do already have music I wrote and I’m sure you do too. I’d like to find those others that are interested in and like the music I write and vice versa. I have only old recordings of a few of the songs I’ve written; almost all my material has been written more recently. Artists I find interesting include Rush, A Perfect Circle, Tool, all old Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, VAST, some Foo Fighters, Yes, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Simon + Garfunkel, The Fixx, selections from The Police. Patsy Cline, bit of Ministry. Dead Kennedy's, Nirvana, Mother Love Bone is cool, Pearl Jam, U2, The Cure, Bauhaus, Jane's Addiction, , Billy Joel, Sade, Beethoven, Joan Jett, Fleetwood Mac, old Metallica, Primus, Nomeansno, Floater, Rage Against the Machine, among others...
