Subject: Flamenco guitarist giving lessons |
Description: Description I have been playing flamenco 15 years now and am ready to begin sharing some of the many things I have discovered with students. I have studied flamenco in Spain with Iñaki Alberro-Gómez (a disciple of Andrés Batista, a well respected soloist and accompanist) for over a year, in San Diego with Paco Sevilla, Juan Moro and classical with Robert Wetzel (of the Odeum Guitar Duo). I have drawn upon the work of Vicente Amigo, Gerardo Núñez, Paco Peña, Rafael Riqueni, Manolo Franco, Ramón Jiménez and others to create a well rounded repertoire of modern sounding flamenco yet still written and performed in the traditional framework that still defines true flamenco. I also accompany dance as time allows at Sara Olivar's flamenco dance classes at Dance Connection in Pacific Beach.
I like to use a combination of technique studies from both the flamenco and the classical traditions, as well as a healthy dose of basic music theory which essentially gives a guitarist the training to improvise and which opens many possibilities musically.
I have performed at weddings, wedding anniversaries, corporate events and notably the retirement gala for former USD president Author Hughes and for the San Diego Opera with excellent reviews.
I think my approach to flamenco and music will provide ample traninig whether you stay an amateur or desire to play professionally.
Please contact contact me through this website or my own for more information.
