Classic Album Review: "Moving Pictures (Anthem Records)" - 1981
It’s been twenty-six years since Rush
reached new heights, creativity and sheer rock brilliance with their 1981
release, “Moving Pictures.” With this
album, Rush became an AOR-Radio staple with the songs “Limelight”, Red
Barchetta and, arguably their most famous song of their career, “Tom
Sawyer. Geddy Lee’s piercing vocals and
aggressive bass playing, Alex Lifeson’s powerful and distinctive guitars and
Neil Peart’s multi-percussive, monster-drumming allowed them to collectively
become rock gods forevermore. This album combines classic hard rock and the
budding digital new wave sounds of the early 1980s to perfection. Many fans regard this production as Rush’s
best work and at almost five million copies sold, and continued airplay to this
day, they are probably right.
